Twice As Warm mentioned on StartSomethingThatMatters.com!!!
Blake Mycoskie, my hero, and the founder of Toms Shoes, mentioned Twice As Warm on his blog yesterday!
Blake recently launched his new book called Start Something That Matters, which is now the #1 New York Times Best Seller! I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book, I absolutely love it.
Blake came to DC a few weeks ago to give a talk, and I was so nervous/excited to meet him. I almost froze up when we shook hands, but he was so nice and welcoming that I was able to put a few sentences together and tell him about Twice As Warm. He thought it was great and really liked the name, and asked if it was twiceaswarm.com. I gave him my card, and then this happened…
At number 2 in his post entitled Top 10 Moments – Start Something That Matters Launch, he said:
“2. Meeting so many young people that have been inspired by TOMS to create giving-based businesses.
In DC, for example, I met Brian Lieberman who created a company called Twice As Warm - which matches every apparel item sold with an item given to a family in need. During the company’s first winter, Brian was able to surpass his first goal of giving 150 winter hats, gloves, and scarves to families in the DC area. Way to go, Brian!”
I still can’t believe it. I am so honored and thrilled and excited! I have been following Blake and the Toms story for years, and have been so inspired by the millions of people they have helped. In 5 years, Toms has already given away 2 MILLION pairs of shoes to needy children around the world. They also recently started an eye wear line which will provide eyesight to millions of people as well.
Blake and Toms have proven many times over that the buy one, give one model can be a very successful and powerful force for good. I have been extremely inspired by the impact that they have been able to make. I started Twice As Warm as a small project to help people in my community stay warm during the winter months, and I am determined to grow Twice As Warm to help more and more people in need each year.
Thanks for reading,
Brian
